Sarang Thiagu completed his schooling at Lady Andal and PSBB Senior Secondary School in Chennai. After finishing school, he pursued undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at the prestigious College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG).
Although he studied engineering, his interest in cinema and storytelling remained strong throughout his academic years. Growing up in Chennai and being the son of actor Thiyagu, he was naturally drawn to the world of filmmaking.
His engineering background gave him a different perspective on problem-solving and creativity, which he later applied to his filmmaking career. Eventually, he decided to follow his passion and enter the Tamil film industry.

Career
Sarang Thiagu began his career in cinema by working as an assistant director under acclaimed filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon. He assisted Menon on the anthology film Putham Pudhu Kaalai (2020) and the anthology series Navarasa (2021).
In 2018, his short film Peraarvam became the second runner-up at the Moviebuff First Clap Season 2 Contest, bringing him recognition. This achievement marked an important milestone in his directing career.
He is now making his feature film debut with Aaromaley, a Tamil comedy film starring Kishen Das, Shivathmika Rajashekar, and Harshath Khan. The film showcases his talent for storytelling and comedy, establishing him as a promising new director in Tamil cinema.
